The valves are supplied as part of control units and are pressurized to a pressure of 1.6 MPa.
Scheme of operation of the KSD valve
A – valve inlet
B – valve outlet
B – supra-membrane cavity of the working chamber
G – submembrane cavity of the working chamber
D, E – cavities of the incentive chamber
MR – working chamber membrane
MP – stimulus chamber membrane
RD – pressure indicator
“D” – drainage hole
“P” – working hole
“C” – signal hole
“K” – control hole
“P” – incentive hole
Design and principle of operation:
The MR membrane divides the valve's working chamber into two cavities B and D.
The MP membrane divides the stimulating chamber of the valve into two cavities D and E.
Cavity B of the valve is connected by a channel to cavity D and working hole P, intended for connection to the supply pipeline to fill them with the working medium and create pressure in them.
Cavity D is connected by channels to cavity G and signal hole "C", intended for connecting a signal device and a drainage line. Cavity E is connected through a channel in the lid to the incentive hole “P”, designed to recharge the incentive line through the throttling hole. Drain hole "D", located in the cavity of outlet hole B, is intended for quick drainage of liquid during maintenance. Control hole "K", located in the cavity of outlet B, designed for connection with the drainage line in deluge installations (prevents the accumulation of liquid at the valve outlet due to possible leaks), and for connection with the incentive hole "P" in sprinkler installations.
To bring the valve to its original state (standby mode), it is necessary to create pressure in cavity E and the incentive line through hole "P" from the line supplying the incentive line. Then, through hole "P", it is necessary to create pressure in cavity B from the supply pipeline supplying the fire extinguishing installation. After opening the valve 3D at the valve inlet, it is ready for operation, while the membrane MR, acting through the rod on the valve, closes the inlet hole A, and the membrane MP, under the influence of pressure in cavity E, closes the channels connecting cavity D with cavities B and D.
When the stimulating device is triggered by the impact of a fire, cavity E communicates through hole "P" with the atmosphere. The pressure in cavity E drops. The MP membrane, under the pressure of the liquid flowing from cavity B to cavity D, closes the holes “P”, turning off the replenishment of the incentive line, and connects cavities D, C and D to each other. The pressure in cavities B and D is equalized and ensures the opening of the valve due to the movement of the MP membrane under the influence of the pressure of the fire extinguishing liquid at the valve inlet. The valve activation signal is issued using a pressure sensor RD type SDU-M connected to the signal hole “C”.
To use the valve in deluge installations, it is necessary to connect hole “P” to the incentive line, and hole “K” to the drain line. To use the valve in sprinkler installations, the holes “P” and “K” must be connected to each other. Depending on the operating conditions, liquid or air can be used as a medium for feeding the incentive line.

PURPOSE
The PILOT KSD deluge valve with a hydraulic membrane drive is a normally closed shut-off device, used to operate in control units of water and foam fire extinguishing installations, and supplies fire extinguishing agent. The valve can be used in sprinkler air control units and in deluge units with hydraulic, electric, pneumatic drives and their combinations. When using the appropriate piping, the PILOT KSD valve ensures that the fire alarm is activated when the system is activated.
The membrane mechanism guarantees uniform pressure distribution on the sealing area, prevents excessive deformation of the membrane and ensures a longer service life.
The valve is actuated by fluid pressure in the supply line.
For proper operation of the valve in fire extinguishing installations, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with GOST R 51052-2002 “Automatic water and foam fire extinguishing installations. Control units. General technical requirements. Test methods” and with the set of rules SP 5.13130-2009 “Fire protection systems. Fire alarm and fire extinguishing installations are automatic. Design norms and rules."

VALVE OPERATION
The main parts of the valve are the body, the diaphragm and the cover (Fig. 1 of the technical description). The membrane and the lid form a locking chamber “ZK”, which has a connection port “Z” on the lid. The rib of the housing in contact with the membrane divides the flow path into inlet “B” and outlet “P” cavities. The outlet cavity has on the body a port “D” for connecting drainage and a port “C” for connecting a signaling device.
The valve can be in standby (closed) and operating (supply of fire extinguishing agent) modes. The valve is put into standby mode when liquid is supplied under pressure into the shut-off chamber “ZK”, while the membrane is pressed against the edge of the body 1 and blocks the communication between cavities “B” and “P”.
In operating mode, liquid from the shut-off chamber is discharged through an incentive device (manual start valve, electric valve, etc.) into the drain. The pressure in the shut-off chamber becomes less than in the inlet cavity “B”, as a result of which the membrane opens the passage of liquid into the outlet cavity “P” and further into the supply pipeline of the installation.
